A fresh controversy has emerged in the Hindi film industry after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) announced that its members would not collaborate with actor Ranveer Singh following his sudden departure from Don 3.
The decision came after filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly approached the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association over the actor’s withdrawal from the project. The matter was later escalated to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees for further action.
The much-anticipated third installment of the popular Don franchise had been in development for nearly three years and was expected to introduce a new lead actor to reboot the series. According to sources associated with the production, the makers had already invested more than Rs 45 crore during the pre-production stage before filming could officially begin.
FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit claimed that Ranveer Singh stepped away from the film barely weeks before shooting was scheduled to commence, creating difficulties for the production team and crew members associated with the project.
Soon after the controversy gained attention, Ranveer Singh released a response through his spokesperson, choosing a restrained tone amid the ongoing dispute. The statement said the actor continues to respect everyone associated with the Don franchise and believes professional disagreements should be handled with maturity and dignity rather than through public exchanges.
The statement further noted that despite multiple reports and speculations circulating in recent weeks, Singh deliberately avoided reacting publicly and remained focused on his upcoming professional commitments.
Meanwhile, Ashoke Pandit also revealed that the actor had written to FWICE objecting to the federation’s involvement in the matter, reportedly stating that the issue did not fall under the organisation’s jurisdiction.
The development has triggered widespread discussion within the film fraternity, especially as “Don 3” remains one of Bollywood’s most awaited projects. However, neither the producers nor FWICE have yet clarified what impact the dispute may have on the future of the film.
