Mumbai: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially withdrawn its non-cooperation directive against actor Ranveer Singh, bringing a temporary pause to the controversy surrounding his reported exit from Don 3. The decision came after intervention from several industry bodies, including the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPAA), the Producers Guild of India (PGI), and the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).

Speaking about the development, FWICE President BN Tiwari emphasized that the matter should not be viewed as a victory or defeat for any party involved. According to him, discussions with industry stakeholders led to a consensus that all sides should engage in dialogue to prevent similar disputes from affecting either filmmakers or actors in the future.

"We have revoked the directive with immediate effect following requests from IMPAA, the Producers Guild, and CINTAA. The intention is to bring everyone to the table and arrive at a balanced solution that safeguards the interests of producers, directors, and artists alike," Tiwari said.

He further clarified that FWICE would respond separately through its legal team to the notice reportedly sent by Ranveer Singh regarding the issue.

How the Controversy Began

The dispute surfaced after reports of Ranveer Singh stepping away from Farhan Akhtar’s much-anticipated film Don 3. On May 25, FWICE announced a non-cooperation directive against the actor after receiving a complaint related to the project. The move sparked debate within the film industry, with concerns being raised about the impact of last-minute exits from major productions.

As tensions escalated, the Producers Guild of India issued a statement on June 3 urging all parties to resolve the disagreement through constructive dialogue. The Guild also highlighted the broader issue of unexpected withdrawals from film projects and the challenges they create for producers.

Ranveer Singh Maintained Silence

Throughout the controversy, Ranveer Singh largely refrained from making public comments. However, a statement released by his representative stressed that the actor holds deep respect for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise.

The statement noted that Ranveer chose not to engage publicly with the ongoing developments, believing that professional matters are best addressed with maturity, dignity, and mutual understanding rather than through public exchanges.

With FWICE now withdrawing its directive and industry bodies encouraging discussions, attention is expected to shift toward finding an amicable resolution to the disagreement while preserving professional relationships within the Hindi film industry.
