Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal has criticised Air Canada after alleging that he was moved from a business-class seat to an economy-class seat despite having paid for business class.
In a post on X, Grewal said the incident occurred while travelling on Air Canada flight AC1504. He claimed that when he questioned the airline about the change, he was told that the situation had occurred and there was little that could be done about it.
According to Grewal, he was given the option of taking the flight in economy or leaving the flight. He further alleged that no apology was offered to him during the interaction.
The singer said that his repeated questions about the downgrade did not result in an explanation or assistance. Instead, he claimed that he was told he could be removed from the aircraft if he continued to raise the issue.
Grewal stressed that he was not seeking any additional privilege from the airline. He said his concern was simply that he had paid for a business-class seat and wanted to understand why he had not been provided with it.
His post has drawn attention online, with the actor’s account of the alleged incident putting the spotlight on the treatment of passengers when booked cabin classes are changed. Air Canada has not been quoted in the post with a response to Grewal’s allegations.
