The Punjabi film industry is buzzing with excitement as the trailer for the highly anticipated movie 'Cheta Singh' was launched recently. The film, directed by the talented Ashish Kumar, boasts a star-studded cast featuring the versatile Prince Kanwaljit Singh and the charming Jhapji Khaira. However, what caught the attention of many at the trailer launch was not just the intriguing glimpse into the film but also the impassioned views shared by renowned Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal on the topic of discrimination faced by Punjabi movies at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
A well-known member of the Punjabi film community, Gippy Grewal is no stranger to the difficulties that Punjabi films frequently experience when applying for CBFC certification. Gippy Grewal voiced his displeasure with the unfair treatment given to Punjabi films throughout the certification process in the video that was made available along with the trailer's release. He audaciously proposed that the CBFC be added to Punjab and that the state should have its own regulations for approving "A" certificates for Punjabi movies.
Not only does he want Punjab to have more control over the certification process, but he also wants to promote the distinct cultural character that Punjabi cinema contributes to the Indian film industry.
Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Japji Khaira, Mahabir Bhullar, Baljinder Kaur, and many more well-known actors play crucial roles in the ensemble cast of "Cheta Singh," which is directed by Ashish Kumar and is set to release on September 1.
