Mumbai witnessed a late-night security scare after multiple gunshots were fired outside the Juhu home of filmmaker Rohit Shetty in the early hours of Sunday. According to police officials, five rounds were discharged between approximately 12:40 am and 1:00 am, triggering an immediate response from local law enforcement.
No injuries were reported in the incident, and authorities confirmed that Shetty was present inside the residence at the time of the firing. Senior police officers said the situation was quickly brought under control and the area was secured as a precautionary measure.
Initial findings suggest that a lone individual carried out the act. CCTV footage collected from the vicinity reportedly shows a suspect lingering in the area and smoking before the shots were fired. However, investigators have not yet established the identity of the accused or the reason behind the attack.
Teams from the Juhu Police Station and the Mumbai Police crime branch rushed to the spot shortly after the incident and began a detailed investigation. Officials stated that all possible angles are being examined, including personal threats, professional rivalries, or attempts to create panic.
A case has been registered against unknown persons under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. In the meantime, security around Shetty’s residential building has been significantly increased, with additional police personnel deployed in the area.
Sources also confirmed that senior officers of the Mumbai Police are holding internal meetings to review the incident and assess any potential security concerns linked to high-profile individuals.
Rohit Shetty is among Bollywood’s most successful directors, widely known for popular franchises such as Golmaal and Singham. The incident has revived memories of a similar firing outside actor Salman Khan’s Bandra home in 2024, an attack that was later linked to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and led to heightened security for the actor.
As the investigation continues, police officials have urged the public to remain calm while assuring that every effort is being made to trace the suspect and determine the motive behind the late-night firing.
