New Delhi: A gym reportedly owned by or associated with Punjabi music star Guru Randhawa came under attack in Delhi after unidentified shooters opened fire at the property, sparking concerns over the growing reach of organized crime networks.
Police officials said the attackers arrived on a two-wheeler and fired several shots before fleeing the area. The incident did not result in any casualties, but it left local residents shocked and prompted a swift police response.
Soon after the shooting, a message circulating on social media claimed that the attack had been carried out on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The post allegedly warned Guru Randhawa over his perceived closeness to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, a figure who has repeatedly received threats from the gang in the past.
Security agencies are examining the authenticity of the message and whether it was actually issued by members of the criminal syndicate. Investigators are also exploring other possible motives behind the attack.
A forensic team visited the scene and recovered evidence, while police began scanning CCTV footage from nearby establishments to track the movement of the suspects. Officials said the investigation remains at an early stage and no arrests have been made so far.
The incident has once again brought attention to the activities of the Lawrence Bishnoi network, which has frequently made headlines over alleged threats against celebrities, businessmen and public figures.
Authorities have increased surveillance in the area and assured that those responsible for the attack will be identified and brought to justice. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
