Mumbai: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after three rounds were allegedly fired at his BMW in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday, according to police sources. The incident reportedly took place as the actor was returning home after playing football. His driver was admitted to Nanavati Hospital following the incident.
Sources told India Today that the shots were directed at Shroff’s vehicle. The actor did not sustain any gunshot injuries, a fact also confirmed by DCP Mohit Garg. A representative from his father Jackie Shroff’s team reportedly reassured the publication, saying, “Tiger is okay.”
Following the firing, Mumbai Police cordoned off the area and formed 12 teams to trace the suspected attackers. Investigators are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify those involved.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also intervened, speaking to the Mumbai Police Commissioner to seek details of the case. He directed the police to speed up the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar contacted the actor’s family following the incident.
The case took another turn after overseas-based gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing in a social media post issued in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi group. The claim has not been independently verified, and the authenticity of the post and the alleged link to the shooting remain to be established by investigators.
In the post, the individuals reportedly alleged that Shroff had ignored earlier warnings against working with actor Salman Khan. The message also contained a threat directed at others, warning that those who did not heed their instructions could be targeted next.
Police are investigating the firing and the alleged online claim as they work to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.
