Actor Gurlal Sandhu has highlighted the difficulties aspiring artistes face while trying to establish themselves in Punjabi cinema, urging filmmakers to create more opportunities for newcomers.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Sandhu pointed to the lack of auditions and accessible entry routes for emerging actors. “Ethe auditions nahi hunde ji, koi door nahi haiga enter karan da,” he remarked, drawing attention to the barriers that can make it difficult for fresh faces to enter the industry.
The actor, who appeared in War 2 and is also part of the upcoming Punjabi film Har Maidan Fateh, appreciated the film's makers for choosing to place their trust in relatively unfamiliar talent. He noted that giving newcomers a chance, rather than depending exclusively on established stars and their existing fan bases, can help bring new energy to Punjabi films.
Sandhu also emphasised that the growth of Punjabi cinema should not be limited to introducing new actors. He believes the industry needs to open its doors to emerging directors and writers as well, allowing different creative voices and perspectives to find space on screen.
His comments have brought attention to a wider discussion about casting practices and opportunities for aspiring professionals in the Punjabi entertainment industry.
Har Maidan Fateh is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 13, 2026.
