Punjabi actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media that accused him of paying Rs 5 crore to a woman in connection with a personal relationship. Calling the claims “baseless and malicious,” the actor has initiated legal steps and filed a complaint with the cyber crime department.
The controversy emerged after a Canada-based YouTuber made serious accusations against Ghuggi, alleging financial transactions and personal misconduct. Responding through a video statement, Ghuggi rejected the allegations outright and described them as part of a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation.
The actor emphasised that his career, spanning over three decades, has been built through consistent hard work and dedication. He asserted that he would not succumb to pressure or intimidation, adding that such campaigns would not shake his standing in the industry.
Ghuggi also expressed concern for the woman allegedly mentioned in the claims, stating that she too had suffered mental distress due to the spread of unverified information.
Confirming that he has approached the authorities, Ghuggi said the matter has been reported to the cyber crime unit for investigation. He further indicated that he is aware of the individuals behind the allegations and warned that he would not hesitate to take the matter to court if necessary.
In a poetic remark reflecting his stance, the actor suggested that those making accusations were attempting to undermine him despite their own shortcomings. He concluded by asserting that repeated attempts to tarnish his image would ultimately fail, and that his reputation remains intact despite the controversy.
