Punjabi singer Guru Randhawa has come out in support of the ongoing protest by international students in Canada, as they continue to demand an extension of the post-graduate work permit. The protest, which is taking place in Brampton, has entered its 34th day.
Randhawa expressed his solidarity with the students, following in the footsteps of fellow singer Sunanda Sharma, who also shared her support through a social media post earlier.
The protest gained momentum after a viral video circulated online, in which a student shared their emotional struggles of leaving their home country in search of better opportunities, only to face challenges in securing work permits.
Hundreds of international students are participating in the protest, raising awareness about the difficulties they face without the extension of the post-graduate work permit, which is crucial for them to gain valuable work experience and build their careers in Canada.
The support from prominent figures like Guru Randhawa and Sunanda Sharma has helped bring more attention to the students’ cause, as they continue to fight for their rights in a foreign land.
