Punjabi singer and actor Hardeep Grewal has postponed the release of his upcoming film Daudaak, which was scheduled to hit cinemas on October 23, citing the prevailing situation in Punjab following the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Jhota.
Announcing the decision, Grewal said the film would be released once the situation eased. The postponement comes at a time when demands for justice for Jhota have drawn public attention across the state.
The decision means moviegoers will have to wait for a revised release date, which has not yet been announced. Grewal indicated that the film’s theatrical debut would depend on how the situation develops in the coming days.
The announcement follows a similar decision by Punjabi actor Neeru Bajwa, who said her film Thappi would stop screening in cinemas amid the ongoing concerns surrounding Punjab and the demand for justice in Jhota’s case.
Both announcements reflect decisions by members of the Punjabi entertainment industry to pause film releases or screenings during a period of heightened public concern.
For now, Daudaak remains postponed, with Grewal expected to announce further details when a new release plan is finalised.
