Haryana Police have initiated the process to issue a look-out circular against rapper Badshah after a case was registered against him over alleged objectionable content in his recently released Haryanvi song Tateeree, officials said on Sunday.

Authorities said the step is aimed at ensuring that the singer does not leave the country while the investigation is underway. The case was registered at the cybercrime police station in Panchkula following complaints about the lyrics and visuals in the music video.

Police said the FIR includes charges under Section 296 of the Indian Penal Code along with provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. Investigators alleged that the video contained inappropriate language and scenes that could be considered offensive toward women and girls.

According to officials, the video depicted girls in school uniforms discarding their school bags and running away from studies. Authorities also objected to the use of the word “Badshala,” which they said distorted the concept of a school environment and portrayed it in an objectionable manner.

Police have issued summons to the singer and formed teams to trace him as part of the investigation. Officials also confirmed that the video has been removed from his official YouTube channel and notices have been sent to social media platforms asking them to take down the content.

The probe has also revealed that the video features a bus belonging to Haryana Roadways from the depot in Jind as well as scenes shot on the premises of a government school. Investigators are now examining whether proper permissions were obtained from authorities before filming at these locations.

Meanwhile, Badshah posted an apology on his Instagram account, saying he had no intention of hurting anyone’s sentiments. In the video message, the rapper said he was proud of his Haryanvi roots and expressed regret if the song had offended people, especially women.

Police said further action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
