New Delhi: A heartfelt atmosphere filled Rashtrapati Bhavan during the Padma Awards 2026 ceremony when veteran actress Hema Malini accepted the Padma Vibhushan awarded posthumously to legendary actor Dharmendra. The emotional occasion left daughter Ahana Deol visibly teary-eyed as the family remembered the late superstar’s remarkable legacy.

Dharmendra, who died in November 2025 at the age of 89, was honoured with the country’s second-highest civilian award for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema and entertainment over several decades.

The prestigious ceremony was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior ministers and prominent personalities from different fields.
