Popular Punjabi singers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Karan Aujla have issued apologies to the Punjab State Women Commission after being summoned over allegations that their recent songs contained language and themes that demean women.
Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill confirmed that both artists have responded to complaints regarding objectionable lyrics in their tracks and apologized for the same.
Honey Singh’s song Millionaire and Karan Aujla’s MF Gabru were flagged by the Commission for using expressions considered disrespectful to women.
Gill stated that the singers acknowledged the criticism and assured the Commission they would be more careful with their content going forward.
