The diplomatic situation between India and Pakistan has become even more precarious after Pakistani actor Iftikhar Thakur’s provocative statement on a television talk show. Thakur, who was a beloved figure in India, particularly in Punjab, caused an uproar with his comments, which many are interpreting as a direct threat to India.
During a recent appearance on the show Gup Shab, Thakur said, "If you come through air, you'll be bombed in the air, if you come by sea, you'll be drowned in water, and if you come through ground, you will be buried under."
This message, viewed by many as a veiled threat of military action, came in the wake of the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, where 26 lives were lost, mostly tourists.
The attack has triggered a wave of national outrage in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemning the assault and pledging that those responsible would face swift justice. Thakur’s inflammatory remarks have only served to heighten these tensions, drawing harsh criticism from across India, particularly from those in the Punjabi entertainment industry who once admired his work.
