Ace Bollywood Producer and Director Indra Kumar, known for films like Masti, Grand Masti, Dhamaal, Dil, Beta & many more has recently purchased the remake rights of the recently released Punjabi film, Love Punjab. Love Punjab released in cinemas just 2 weeks back on March 11 and has done reasonably good business and is in the Top 10 Highest Grossing Punjabi films of all time.
Love Punjab has been directed by Rajiv Dhingra and written by Amberdeep Singh featured Amrinder Gill, Sargun Mehta, Yogiraj Singh in lead roles.
Indra Kumar has a successful partnership with his business partner Ashok Thakeria who together own Maruti International. Together the team of Kumar and Thakeria have been termed as ‘The Crowd Pullers’ by India Today and this is all evident from the track record which they have at the box office barring just 1 or 2 releases which didn’t fare well at the box office.
However, it is to be seen that whether they actually make a film out of the rights purchased or not. Because earlier as well, Bollywood biggies like Himesh Reshamiya were involved with the remake rights of Jatt & Juliet but the project never saw the light of the day and if the reports are to be believed the project has been shelved as of now. I do hope the same doesn’t happen with Love Punjab.
