Chandigarh: Punjabi film Ishqnama is maintaining a strong run in theatres, with several cinemas across Punjab reporting packed shows over the weekend. The film has witnessed high occupancy in major cities, highlighting its growing popularity among audiences.
The cross-border romantic drama has recorded sold-out or near-capacity screenings in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Mohali, Patiala, Pathankot and Pitampura. The sustained turnout suggests that positive audience feedback and word-of-mouth recommendations are helping the film attract more moviegoers.
Featuring Jayy Randhawa and Shehnaaz Gill in lead roles, Ishqnama is inspired by the real-life story of Nimma and Nasima. The film explores a love story set against the backdrop of borders and personal struggles, combining romance with emotional storytelling.
Since its release, the movie has generated considerable discussion among Punjabi cinema fans and continues to perform well at the box office. The strong response over the weekend has further strengthened its position as one of the most successful Punjabi films currently showing in theatres.
Trade observers believe the film's consistent occupancy levels and positive audience reception could help it sustain its theatrical run in the coming weeks, particularly in North Indian markets where Punjabi cinema enjoys a loyal fan base.
