Chandigarh: Anticipation is steadily building around the upcoming Punjabi feature film 'Ishqnama' after its teaser was officially launched at a star-studded event in Chandigarh on Monday. The glimpse into the film has quickly caught the attention of Punjabi cinema fans, generating widespread discussion across entertainment circles.
A major attraction of the project is the first-ever pairing of actors Jayy Randhawa and Shehnaaz Gill, a collaboration that has already piqued the curiosity of audiences. The film promises a compelling mix of romance, action, and heartfelt emotions, drawing inspiration from real-life experiences and stories of true love.
Addressing the media during the launch event, cast members Jayy Randhawa, Shehnaaz Gill, Saurabh Sachdeva, Anjum Batra, Nirmal Rishi, and Dheeraj Rattan, along with director Arvinder Singh Khaira, shared insights into the film’s narrative and the effort invested in bringing the story to life.
In 'Ishqnama', Randhawa takes on the role of Nimma, while Gill portrays Nazima. To prepare for his character, Randhawa underwent intensive physical training and transformed his appearance, aiming to deliver a performance that stands apart from his previous work. Industry observers have been closely following the film since its production stage, with expectations high for the actor’s new look and portrayal.
The film’s production journey was not without challenges. During the filming of an action-packed sequence, Randhawa sustained an injury while performing a demanding stunt. Despite the incident, he resumed work and completed the shoot, reflecting his commitment to the project.
Shot on an expansive scale, 'Ishqnama' has been filmed across multiple locations in Punjab and scenic destinations in Rajasthan, adding visual grandeur to the story. The movie also marks Randhawa’s first Punjabi release of 2026, following the success of 'Badnaam' last year.
Set to arrive in cinemas worldwide on July 24, 'Ishqnama' is expected to deliver a blend of romance, music, drama, and action. With the teaser already creating considerable excitement, the film is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Punjabi releases of the year.
