Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi has responded to criticism over his recent video comment about a rapper who was chosen as the face of an anti-drug campaign by a national political party in Punjab, stating that his primary allegiance is to Punjab rather than to any political organization.

In a message shared with his followers, Jassi expressed gratitude to those who supported his views and defended his decision to speak openly on issues concerning the state. Addressing criticism and online trolling, the singer made it clear that he does not identify himself with any particular political party.

“Meri ikko party hai, Punjab. Te jo party Punjab di gal karegi, ohi meri party hai,” Jassi said, emphasizing that Punjab's interests remain his foremost priority.

The singer further explained that his personal and professional relationships extend across the political spectrum. According to him, he has close friends associated with major political parties, including the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party, making it difficult to view issues through a partisan lens.

Jassi noted that taking a public stand is often challenging, particularly when political sensitivities are involved. However, he maintained that remaining silent is not an option when he believes Punjab's interests are at stake.

“I have many friends in different political parties. In public life, it is not possible to end friendships simply because someone changes political affiliations. But whenever something is said or done against Punjab, I feel it is my responsibility to raise my voice,” he remarked.

The singer also stressed that his platform carries a responsibility beyond entertainment. With a large audience and diverse network of acquaintances, he said he considers it his duty to speak about issues affecting Punjab and its people whenever necessary.

Jassi's remarks come amid ongoing discussions on social media regarding the anti-drug campaign and the personalities associated with it. His latest statement has drawn support from many followers who praised his emphasis on Punjab-centric issues, while others continued to debate the role of artists in political and social discourse.

Known for frequently voicing opinions on cultural and social matters, Jasbir Jassi has often maintained that artists have a responsibility to engage with issues that impact society. His latest comments reinforce that position, highlighting his belief that regional interests should take precedence over political loyalties.
