Punjabi playback singer and actor Jasbir Jassi visited Golden Temple on Wednesday evening, where he offered prayers and spoke about the importance of spirituality, social responsibility and staying away from drugs.
The singer arrived at the holy shrine amid a large gathering of devotees and admirers. Many visitors approached him for photographs and brief interactions as he made his way through the complex. Jassi kept a low-key and respectful presence during the visit and spent time paying obeisance at the sanctum.
Speaking after the visit, the artist said that every trip to the Golden Temple gives him mental peace and renewed energy. He described the shrine as a place that teaches compassion, equality and devotion, adding that such values are essential for maintaining harmony in society.
Jassi also used the occasion to raise concern about substance abuse among youngsters in Punjab. He urged the youth to remain focused on positive pursuits and avoid falling into addiction, saying drugs are damaging families and weakening society.
According to the singer, the younger generation has immense talent and potential, and they should channel their energy into education, sports, music and constructive activities rather than harmful habits.
The visit once again brought the singer into the spotlight, especially after his recent remarks regarding anti-drug campaigns involving rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh and BJP leader Tarun Chugh. Jassi had earlier criticised what he called attempts to turn Punjab’s serious social issues into publicity exercises.
Fans present at the shrine appreciated the singer’s message and praised him for speaking openly about the growing need to protect Punjab’s youth from addiction and social decline.
