Mohali: Punjabi singer Jasmine Sandlas used her performance in Mohali on Saturday to speak out in support of LGBTQ+ rights, appearing on stage in a rainbow-coloured dupatta that symbolised love, equality and inclusion.
The singer’s appearance was part of her Dream Girl India Tour, during which she performed for thousands of fans. Alongside her musical performance, Jasmine addressed the audience on the importance of allowing people to love freely and live without judgement.
Her choice of attire, combined with her remarks from the stage, brought attention to the dignity and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.
‘Let People Love,’ Jasmine Tells Audience
Addressing the crowd, Jasmine spoke about divisions within Punjabi society and urged people not to interfere in others’ personal relationships.
“We are very divided as Punjabis. Let people love. Who are we tell someone whom they can or cannot love? Love is a very sacred thing. Many people do not find love; those who do should be allowed to love,” she said.
The singer also called for greater freedom in how people choose to live their lives. She pointed out that many struggle to understand life themselves and argued that those who have found their own path should be allowed to live on their terms.
Her message centred on a simple appeal: people should be able to love without facing restrictions or condemnation from others.
Rainbow Symbolism Draws Attention
The rainbow dupatta became a prominent part of Jasmine’s appearance at the concert, reinforcing the message she delivered to the audience. The rainbow flag and its colours are widely associated with LGBTQ+ pride, visibility and the pursuit of equal rights.
Her remarks drew appreciation from fans and social media users, many of whom welcomed the singer’s public expression of support for a community that continues to face social stigma and discrimination.
Music and Inclusion Share the Spotlight
Jasmine Sandlas has built a following through her distinctive vocal style and energetic live performances. At the Mohali concert, her support for LGBTQ+ equality added a social message to an evening otherwise centred on music and entertainment.
By using her platform to speak about acceptance, the singer brought a wider conversation about love, individual freedom and respect into the concert space. Her message encouraged audiences to look beyond social divisions and recognise everyone's right to live with dignity.
