The Punjabi music fraternity is mourning the loss of Ravinder Kaur, mother of popular singer and actor Jassie Gill, who passed away following a prolonged illness. She had reportedly been undergoing treatment for cancer for around six months and breathed her last at a hospital in Delhi.
Her final rites were held at the family's ancestral village of Jandali in the Payal area of Ludhiana district. According to the family's official obituary, Sardarni Ravinder Kaur, wife of S. Gurminder Singh, was cremated in the presence of relatives, friends and members of the local community.
A number of people from the Punjabi entertainment industry also reached Jandali to pay their respects and stand by the singer and his family during the difficult time. Several fellow artistes and singers are also understood to have visited Jassie Gill's residence to offer their condolences.
Ravinder Kaur had reportedly been battling the disease for several months and remained under medical care during her treatment. Despite continued efforts, she could not recover, leaving the family and those close to her in deep grief.
The news has also prompted an outpouring of condolences from the Punjabi music fraternity, where Jassie Gill enjoys a strong fan following both in India and overseas. Known for his popular songs and successful career in the entertainment industry, the singer has built a reputation for his grounded personality despite his widespread popularity.
Jassie Gill's close friendship with fellow Punjabi singer Babbal Rai has also been widely admired by fans over the years. As the singer navigates this personal loss, messages of support and condolences continue to pour in from friends, colleagues and admirers.
