Diljit Dosanjh, a prominent artist of Punjab who has now become a global sensation is always in the news. Be it any music, movies or social media posts. And this time, Dosanjhawala has been making his name in the limelight due to the upcoming biopic. As the fans of Diljit Dosanjh know that the artist is making a biopic of Jaswant Singh Khalra but due to some legal issues the film has not been able to release.
And now the fresh update regarding the same has been out. If reports are to be believed, the Bombay High Court on Tuesday postponed a hearing in a case challenging the prerequisites imposed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the Jaswant Singh Khalra biopic, which included 21 edits and revisions.
Yes, you read that right. The movie requires 21 cuts since some scenes and conversations have been deemed offensive and communal, with the potential to promote violence and radicalise Sikh youngsters. Additionally, it asserts that the movie may have an impact on both the nation's relations with other countries and its sovereignty. Also, the CBFC mandated that the title and a few phrases be removed.
Apart from this, it has been reported that the film's creators, Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Films, appealed the cuts required for the film to the Bombay High Court under section 5C of the Cinematograph Act on the grounds that they violated Article 19 (1)(a) of the Indian Constitution. The following hearing will occur on July 14, 2023.
The biopic on Jaswant Singh Khalra has been in trouble since the day it was announced. But the anticipation of people for watching the film is more as the viewers are eagerly waiting to know about social activist Jaswant Singh Khalra portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh. The film also stars Arjun Rampal in a pivotal role. The release date of the same has not been out, but we hope as soon as the matters sort out, the makers will disclose it by then.
