Director Navaniat Singh’s next film is titled Jindua and features a plethora of stars in the form of Jimmy Sheirgill, Neeru Bajwa & Sargun Mehta. The 1st look of the film was released today evening and features the 3 lead stars with smiling faces alongside a very cute dog and ‘The Maple Leaf’ in the background. The film has been extensively shot in Calgary (AB), Canada and the 2nd schedule of the film will be shot in November in Amritsar.
The 1st poster also announced the release date of the film i.e. March 17, 2017. The first impression which I personally got from the first look was that of a love triangle but you never know with Navaniat’s films. They have always been unpredictable in nature and the director usually surprised the audience when the film releases. Jindua marks the return of one of the most iconic pairs of Punjabi Cinema, Jimmy Sheirgill & Neeru Bajwa after the 2014 released Aa Gaye Munde UK De. The duo has earlier worked in films like Mel Karade Rabba & Munde UK De.
The film has been produced by Vivek Ohri, GS Dhillon & Harshimran Dhillon with Buta Rehill & Dheeraj Rattan coming in as co-producers. The music of the film has been composed by Jaidev Kumar & Arjuna Harjai with Babu Singh Maan, Dr. Devinder Kaafir & Ikka joining in as lyricists. The story & screenplay has been written by Dheeraj Rattan with Balraj Syal & Amarjit Singh writing the dialogues.
Jindua is a very common term used in Punjabi songs on a regular basis and it simply stands for ‘the love of my life’. Jindua is a famous folk dance of the Punjabis. Though the Bhangra is the most well-known of the folk dances of Punjab, the Jindua also deserves a special mention when the folk dances are spoken about. (India Mapped)
