She is one of the few female Directors in Punjabi Film Industry. Yes we are talking about Nidhi Sharma, who is coming with her directorial debut with Punjabi Movie, Pooja Kiven Aa. Punjabi Mania interviewed Nidhi recently

Tell us about your background?
I come from a family of five where my father is a retired class one officer, mother is a homemaker, besides me I have 2 sisters, Eldest one is a doctor and my other sister works as Manager Training in an MNC. I am the youngest and the most pampered one in my family. (Laughs)
Talking about my education, after I completed my schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya (central school) Bhopal, I took up a course in direction from Delhi. After I finished that I also did course in animation from Mumbai to keep myself up to date with the latest technology.

You are the one of the few Female Directors in Punjabi Film Industry. How does it feel to be one?
Direction was my passion and it will always be. It feels great to be where I am! It was definitely not easy for me but yes I like taking up challenges, I had my ultimate goal in mind and kept working towards it. Not to forget my family who has been the biggest and the best support though out. I would not have been here without them.

How did you have your break?
Well I will say I was destined to be here. (Smiles) While I was working on some other project, I came across this amazing script. Apparently around the same time Romi Ji was also looking for a technical person. He came across my resume and we spoke about the project and it clicked. Hoping for more projects soon.

Tell us something about your movie Pooja Kiven Aa?
Pooja kiven Aa is a hilarious story of a girl named Pooja. She is an NRI and 3 guys (Tarun, Sahil, Raj) wander around her. Pooja comes to India for some land proceedings. The situation gets a little tricky when the trio falls into love with her. The movie is a great fun, and to unfold it I request you to watch the movie.

How was your experience with the star cast at the sets?
It was superb! Everyone contributed fantastically. I must say it was an amazing team to work with. Not only we worked together, but only we enjoyed together every moment of the shoot. It was great fun on the sets.

Any memorable moment from the sets of the movie?
Each and every moment is memorable to me. Everything still looks fresh to me. No matter what, this movie will always be very close to my heart.

Being the first Punjabi female director, you are an inspiration for other women. What is your message for them?
That’s an honour I would say. Only message I want to give is “Do what YOU want to do. Listen to your heart always. Once decided, do not ever get distracted irrespective of what people may say or think about you. Just be yourself”.

What are your upcoming projects?
I have shortlisted a few stories and the talks are on with a few banners. Shall announce it soon.
