'Kache Pakke Yaar' Review: A hawked number

He is a fine video director who might one day go on to direct movies. Accepted.

He is a fine model. Accepted.

He is a decent enough actor who has the potential to improve further. Accepted.

He is a fine singer. Accepted. Umm. Is he?

By now, you should have guessed the person who is being discussed above. He is none other than the uber-talented Parmish Verma. We've all seen him come up through the ranks in the Punjabi industry. There are people who fail to climb the ladder in one aspect of the entertainment industry. And then, there is Verma, who has engaged himself masterly across various roles in the Punjabi entertainment industry.

Having said that, one of his role which has ceaselessly dashed our hopes is him being a singer. 'Le Chakk Main Aa Gaya', his maiden track as a singer, was passable because at that moment it appeared to be a one-time venture. There is no hiding to the fact that it takes years of practice for a learned singer to become what he/she eventually wants to become. As a public figure, isn't Verma doing injustice to those people who might not be as well-connected as he is.

In what is his third song, Verma's 'Kache Pakke Yaar' released in the morning. The music video was released on the official YouTube channel of Speed Records. At the time of writing this article, it has just crossed a million views on the same platform. The song has been penned down by Mandeep Maavi. Desi Crew, who have worked with Verma in both his previous projects, have directed the song musically.

Verma has directed the music video himself. Agreed that he struggled for a considerable amount of time as a student down under. But, this doesn't mean that footage from his short film, 'Zimmewari Bhukh Te Doori', should be shown every time he sings a song. For what reasons? Perhaps, it was the biggest turn-off of Kache Pakke Yaar.

He flies in the face of the most ideal qualities required in a singer. Notwithstanding what has just been said, he is the owner of a humongous fan following on social media. Hours after Kache Pakke Yaar was released, lines from the song were easily seen as captions on several posts. Coming back to the question of whether he is a fine singer or not, it is for no one but you (audience) to decide. It is up to you to pick the singer-type-singer or or a hawker-type-singer. It is up to you to pick someone who is a virtuoso or someone who barely markets his songs in a way that it looks alluring to his fans.
