Punjabi music sensation Karan Aujla has etched his name in history with a dynamic performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, marking his debut on one of America’s most iconic late-night stages.
Aujla is now the second Punjabi artist to ever appear on Fallon’s show, after Diljit Dosanjh, and the first Canadian-born Punjabi musician to reach this milestone.
The performance featured an electrifying medley of two of his chart-topping hits, Boyfriend and Gabhru!. The highlight came when Aujla invited Fallon to try a few bhangra steps. While the host jokingly admitted to being “too stiff” at first, he quickly loosened up and matched Aujla’s infectious energy, leaving the audience in cheers.
For Aujla, the moment transcended music. Calling it “bigger than me—it’s about taking Punjabi pop culture to the world,” he reflected on his journey from a small village in Punjab to an international spotlight. His appearance underscored the global rise of Punjabi music, blending tradition with modern sounds and reaching audiences far beyond South Asia.
Industry watchers hailed the performance as another step forward in the mainstream recognition of Punjabi pop, a genre now firmly planting its flag on global platforms.
