Keetika on Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da: The debutant actress opened up on her role in upcoming Punjabi movie tiled ‘Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da’.

This Friday will be “D-Day” for upcoming Punjabi movie titled Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da‘. Having displayed immense potential via its teasers and trailer, audiences should be looking forward to watch the movie in cinema halls on November 8.

Written by Kumar Ajay and directed by Sagar S. Sharma, the movie will also witness both of them playing pivotal roles in it. Apart from the duo, Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da also stars Preet Baath, Deep Joshi, Veer Vashisht, Siddhi Ahuja, Keetika, Jatin Sharma, Mohit Bhaskar, Poonam Sood, Satwant Kaur and Goldy Khurana.

While most of the actors have worked together with Kumar Ajay and Sagar Sharma in their previous movies, Keetika will be seen making her debut in the Punjabi film industry with this movie. Having worked in Hindi serials like ‘Krishna Chali London’ and ‘Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo’, the Amritsar-born actress has successfully made the transition to the silver screens now.

“As an actress, you look forward to experiencing everything by doing contrasting roles. I want my role to be visible [literally and figuratively] on the screen. I don’t want to be a dummy standing like a showpiece in the movie. This role was among the lead roles of the movie,” Keetika was quoted as saying in an interview with Punjabi Mania.

Keetika, who is playing the character of Mehar in Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da, disclosed the initial conversation with director Sharma before shooting the movie. The actress further expressed confidence that her character will be liked by the audiences.

“I am playing an aggressive and upfront girl who doesn’t listen to anyone. I think 90% girls these days are like this only. When I had received the call, they told me that they have auditioned many girls for this role but haven’t found the right one.

“Among a major requirement of this character was that she should be able to fight with boys. There are some girls who keep quite during tense situations but they wanted a Ghar Da Munda for this movie. We are confident that this role will be liked by the audiences,” Keetika said.

“Situations force characters to behave aggressively”

In an industry where debutant actresses are mostly cast as the love interest of the actor, Keetika is unequivocally fortunate to have received a meaty character first up. Opening up on her character, Keetika admitted that her character will be seen abusing in the movie but for valid reasons.

“My character also abuses in the movie. She takes the responsibility of protecting her home. She has a strong authentic Punjabi dialect. There are girls who abuse in a very girlish way. But you will see Mehar abusing in a combative accent. Having said that, these sequences are not forced in the movie. Situations force the characters to behave aggressively in the movie,” Keetika added.

Before concluding, Keetika considered female-oriented movies to be a positive sign for the Punjabi industry and believed such movies will inspire more girls to work in the Punjabi film industry.

“I believe that actresses should get equal screen space in Punjabi movies. They should at least get a chance to perform. If the same happens, only then will girls be motivated to take up acting as a profession in Punjab. It’s good that female-oriented movies like Ardab Mutiyaran‘ and Beautiful Billo‘ are being made now,” Keetika further added.
