Shampy Da Daddy aka B N Sharma, a worthy Punjabi actor is all geared up for his upcoming film Dil Sada Luteya Gaya. He was in Jalandhar for the shoot recently. During his visit, he shared his plight in the Punjabi Film Industry with Punjabi Mania.

After entertaining the viewers through his comedy characters like ‘Shampy Da Daddy’ and ‘Inspector Sikander Singh Tiwana’ from blockbusters Jatt and Juliet and Carry on Jatta respectively, veteran actor B N Sharma is all set for his upcoming movie ‘Dil Sada Luteya Gaya’ and is in Jalandhar for the shoot.

Every director loves him for the perfection he puts in his work. The story of B N Sharma is alike the young and budding actors of Cinema. Born and brought up in Delhi, his parents wanted him to become an engineer. But his passion for theater motivated him to leave his family behind during his Bachelor’s degree. He shifted to city beautiful, Chandigarh at his Uncle’s place and served as a Police Constable for around 25 years along with acting.

Was the decision to get separate from parents right and he says, “I was so fascinated by acting field that I wanted to become a part of it at any cost. I remember when I was a kid (even before I started going school), I used to buy a flute from a ‘balloon wala’ and play it. Now I realized that it was an art. As my father was quite rigid I had to take the extreme step. And now with the hard work and love of all I am doing well.”

During his service as a constable, Sharma did 40-45 movies. He has a very special association with Jalandhar. Ask him about his relation with city Sharma reveals, “It was the year 1985 when Jalandhar Doordarshan gave me first show titled ‘Jeb Katre’. I started my TV career with a negative role but was much appreciated. After that, I did Late Jaspal Bhatti's popular shows, Ulta Pulta and Flop Show, in which I played negative roles with a heavy dose of comedy. Then there was no looking back.”

Sharma then started his innings in movies and got his first break in flick ‘Baisakhi’ in the year 1987  followed by another super hit movie ‘Mahaul Theek Hai’ in 1999. “Since then I am also known as Billu Bakra” quips Sharma. And today, Sharma has more than 70 Punjabi movies under his kitty and has signed more ten-twelve movies back-to-back.

Once again he is pleased to come back to Jalandhar. These days he is shooting for his upcoming movie ‘Dil Sada Luteya Gaya’. About his role in the movie, Sharma briefs, “I am playing the role of retired DSP and one of the fathers of hero. I and my friend have adopted him. What all confusion we prevail in his life is what you need to see in theaters. It’s quite an entertaining role again and I hope the viewers will applaud and appreciate it.”

Sharma has been recently honored with Best Actor in Comic Role Award. As he signs off Sharma concludes, “I just want that our Punjab Government must do something fruitful for Punjabi Cinema too like they are doing in promotion of sports which is a good point too. Punjabi Cinema is doing wonders now and our Government must contribute something to make it internationally renowned.”
