Neeru Bajwa: The legendary Punjabi actor will be appearing on the silver screens after six and a half months.
Neeru Bajwa and Gurnam Bhullar-starer 'Kokka' will be up for grabs for the audiences on this Friday (May 20) as far as the next Punjabi movie is concerned.
In what will be Bajwa's first movie of 2022, Bhullar will have his third release in less than three months. While Bajwa was last seen in Gippy Grewal's 'Shava Ni Girdhari Lal' last year, Bhullar was last seen in Manvir Brar's 'Lekh' last month.
Bajwa, who is playing a character aged similar as hers in real life, was vocal about quashing a commonly practiced tradition of assigning an age to marriage especially in the case of girls. Speaking in a recent interview with Punjabi Mania, Bajwa urged both people and the Punjabi film industry to not pretend and accept reality as it is.

Working with Bajwa for the first time, Bhullar explained how Kokka encompasses thought processes of both the leading actors and spoke against it being a female-oriented movie in spite of the story primarily revolving around the female actor.

Bajwa, who is on the verge of completing a couple of decades in the Punjabi film industry, will add to her unparalleled knack of working with co-actors ranging across generations with Kokka.
The reason I say this is because she has worked in leading roles opposite the likes of Harbhajan Mann, Gurdas Maan, Guggu Gill, Jimmy Sheirgill, Gippy Grewal, Diljit Dosanjh, Ammy Virk, Amrit Maan and Tarsem Jassar in the past.
Without wanting to make her sound old, it is commendable for her longevity as a female lead Punjabi actor to have worked opposite the likes of aforementioned names who unequivocally represent different generations in the Punjabi industry. Bajwa, who is the only female actor in the Punjabi film industry to have survived for this long when it comes to continually playing lead roles, has worked opposite her youngest co-actor in Kokka.
While the script of this movie aptly justifies Bajwa and Bhullar's casting opposite each other, there's little doubt around Bajwa's skills not justifying the same in any other romantic movie as well. Irrespective of how Kokka performs at the box-office, for Bajwa to have this rare imperishability in the Punjabi industry needs to be celebrated.
