The Punjab Kala Parishad yesterday late evening organized a programme of literary songs by Toronto based Punjabi singer and broadcaster Kuldeep Deepak. The singer regaled the audience by rendering in a soulful voice the songs of many renowned poets of Punjab.
The singer played guitar to perfection while Gautam Dhar played tabla. The singer rendered ‘Shikra Yaar’, ‘Kaun Tere Shehar Aa k Mur Gaya’ penned by Shiv Kumar Batalvi, ‘Aayian See Yaadan Terian’ penned by Amrita Pritam, ‘Addhi Raat Pehar Dey Tarke’ written by Sohan Singh Misha in a soul stirring manner. The height of the evening was when Kuldeep Deepak also sang ‘Iss Taran Hai Din Raat Da Faasla’ and ‘Ki Khabar See Tainu Eh Jagg Bhull Jaiga’ penned by the Chairman of the Punjab Kala Parishad Dr. Surjit Patar in latter’s presence. The singer also presented ‘Mahiya Tappe’ in a novel manner.
On the occasion, Dr. Surjit Patar honoured Kuldeep Deepak and while lauding the selection of the songs by the singer said that music gives wings to the words and the memories of Amrita Pritam, Sohan Singh Misha and Shiv Kumar Batalvi have been revived by Kuldeep Deepak. The stage was ably compeered by Bhupinder Malik. Among others present on the occasion included President Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi Diwan Manna, Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, Ninder Ghugianvi, Deepak Sharma Chanarthal and Sabdeesh.
