Ludhiana: A threatening email sent to senior officials of the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation triggered concern across the city on Monday after it allegedly warned of bomb attacks at the Mayor’s office and the residence of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh.
According to administrative sources, the email was received on official government accounts, including that of the Municipal Commissioner, during the early morning hours. The message reportedly contained details about planned explosions and mentioned separate timings for the alleged attacks.
The sender warned that the Mayor’s office could be targeted during the afternoon, while another blast was allegedly planned near Diljit Dosanjh’s residence later in the evening. The email also included threats aimed at individuals associated with or supporting the singer.
Officials said the communication made references to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and used provocative statements suggesting retaliation. The sender further claimed that such actions would continue until June 6.
The threat message was reportedly signed in the name of a group calling itself the “Khalistan National Army.” Two names — Engineer Gurnakh Singh and Dr. Gurnirvair Singh — were mentioned at the end of the email.
Following the development, the Ludhiana Police and cybercrime units immediately launched an investigation. Cyber experts are currently examining technical details to trace the origin of the email and verify the credibility of the threat.
Meanwhile, security has been intensified around government buildings and other sensitive locations in the city. Authorities are also keeping a close watch on areas linked to the threat as a precautionary measure.
Police officials have appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unconfirmed information. They assured that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain security and investigate the matter thoroughly.
