Manje Bistre brings a fresh spark in Punjabi Cinema

The trailer of Manje Bistre, the new film starring Gippy Grewal, Sonam Bajwa, Rana Ranbir, Gurpreet Ghuggi & others was released earlier today on YouTube and to summarise it in one sentence – I Loved It! Manje Bistre has been written and produced by Gippy Grewal himself and is directed by Baljit Singh Deo. The duo has earlier worked together on 3 occasions.

Manje Bistre is not only a comedy by genre but by heart & soul, A True Comedy which I believe will take the comic element in Punjabi Cinema to another level like Jatt & Juliet and Carry On Jatta did 5 years ago in 2012. The film is set in the backdrop of a Punjabi Wedding and as the Trailer rightly says ‘Inviting You…To The Real Punjabi Wedding’.

The film will show the Punjabi Weddings of the older days when there were no mobile phones, no hotels or resorts, no Destination Weddings and each and every member of the family used to gather at least a week before the wedding and celebrate and enjoy the occasion and the family members used to collect Manje Bistre from the neighbours in the village so that they can accommodate all the guests and relatives.

Right from the very 1st scene in the trailer where Gippy Grewal is seen dreaming as the iconic Jatt Jeona Morh portrayed by Guggu Gill, Manje Bistre gets the attention of the viewer and takes the viewer on a 3-minute joyride which is just a Trailer of the full product which comes out on April 14, 2017, on the auspicious day of Vaisakhi.

It may be too early to say, but I have not seen a complete film based on a Typical Punjabi Wedding in Punjabi Cinema. Bambukat, Angrej had some sequences of weddings but the story there was something else and here the film itself is set in the backdrop of a wedding. Also lets not leave out the intriguing title track which plays out in the trailer in the booming vocals of Nachattar Gill with lines like ‘???? ???? ?? ???? ?????? ???? ?? ????’ .

Also starring in the film are Karamjit Anmol, Jaggi Singh, B.N. Sharma, Rana Ranbir, Sardar Sohi, Sara Gurpal, Hobby Dhaliwal, Rana Jung Bahadur. The film is written by Gippy Grewal, directed by Baljit Singh Deo and will be distributed worldwide by White Hill Production.
