Punjabi actor and global music icon Diljit Dosanjh has finally spoken out about the prolonged uncertainty surrounding his much-anticipated film Punjab 95. The film, inspired by the life of noted human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, has been stuck in limbo for months due to certification issues, leaving both the actor and his fans deeply disappointed.
During a live interaction with fans on January 7, 2026, Diljit appeared visibly emotional as he addressed the delay. Expressing his helplessness, he said, “Bai, I am so sorry bro, mera poora zor lagg geya,” before adding, “Eh duniya hi edda di aa hun,” words that reflected his exhaustion after trying every possible way to move the project forward.
According to sources, Punjab 95 has faced significant challenges at the certification stage. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly suggested close to 127 changes. These include removing references to Punjab itself, replacing the term “Punjab Police” with the generic word “Police,” and omitting mentions of prominent historical figures such as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
The suggested edits don’t stop there. The board has also asked for alterations related to religious and cultural elements, including the removal of Gurbani audio and visuals featuring the Indian flag. These demands have made it increasingly difficult for the filmmakers to present the story in its original and authentic form.
Diljit’s candid remarks have struck a chord with audiences, many of whom have been waiting for years to see Jaswant Singh Khalra’s story portrayed on the big screen. As the delays continue, the future of Punjab 95 remains uncertain, but the actor’s words underline just how much this project means to him—and how powerless even a star of his stature can feel in the face of such obstacles.
