Singer Mika Singh has come out in support of his brother, Daler Mehndi, following a controversy over the veteran singer’s treatment during a stage event in Uttarakhand. Calling for accountability, Mika said the allegations about Daler consuming alcohol were false and urged the person responsible to apologise for the remarks and the way his brother was addressed publicly.

In a social media post, Mika thanked fellow singers, fans, family members and well-wishers for supporting Daler amid the controversy. He stressed that his brother does not drink alcohol and said making such claims against him was unfair.

“Daler Mehndi ji does not drink alcohol, and making such allegations against him is completely wrong,” Mika stated, firmly rejecting the accusation.

Mika questions public treatment of veteran singer

Explaining why he believed an apology was necessary, Mika drew a comparison with the way people are expected to conduct themselves in educational settings. He pointed out that even a teacher reprimanding a student at school or college can become a serious issue, raising questions about the appropriateness of publicly scolding and insulting an established artist on stage.

Mika maintained that the issue was not simply about a disagreement but also about showing respect to a senior figure in the music industry. He called on the person involved to acknowledge that the allegations concerning Daler’s alcohol consumption were incorrect and apologise for the manner in which the singer was treated.

The post also tagged Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, bringing the matter to the attention of the state’s political leadership.

Call for accountability, not personal attacks

Mika’s message focused on defending his brother’s reputation and seeking an apology rather than launching a personal attack. By emphasising Daler’s longstanding abstinence from alcohol, he challenged the claim that had reportedly triggered the confrontation.

The incident has brought attention to questions surrounding the treatment of performers at public events, particularly when disagreements unfold in front of an audience. Mika’s response underlined the importance of verifying allegations before making them publicly and maintaining decorum when addressing artists.

While Mika has made his demand for an apology clear, further developments in the matter remain awaited. The controversy has also prompted renewed discussion about professional respect and the responsibility that comes with making public accusations against established personalities.
