Singer Mika Singh has criticised Uttarakhand minister Subodh Uniyal over his reported confrontation with Daler Mehndi at the Kunjapuri fair, arguing that elected representatives should focus on public service rather than threatening or humiliating artists.

Reacting to the controversy, Mika alleged that the minister had boasted about previously throwing singer Maninder Buttar out of an event in front of Daler Mehndi. He questioned the conduct of a public representative and said such aggression would be better directed towards tackling criminals and crime.

Mika described the reported behaviour as inappropriate for someone holding a ministerial position, adding that leaders should work to resolve people’s problems instead of engaging in confrontations with celebrities.

Mika Asks Minister to Apologise to Daler Mehndi Personally

Taking his criticism further, Mika urged Uniyal to contact Daler Mehndi directly and apologise to him. He said a public apology was not necessary, suggesting that a personal conversation between the two would be sufficient.

Mika explained that he had spoken out because the controversy had affected his brother’s reputation. He also rejected the allegation concerning alcohol that emerged during the dispute, maintaining that Daler does not drink.

The singer further claimed that Daler had performed despite being unwell at the time, questioning why he had been subjected to criticism after turning up for the event.

Sunanda Sharma’s Withdrawal Also Mentioned

Mika also referred to Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma, saying she had withdrawn from the programme a day before the event without facing similar criticism.

He contrasted her decision not to attend with Daler’s appearance at the fair, arguing that his brother had fulfilled his commitment despite his health concerns.

Kunjapuri Fair Incident Sparks Debate

The controversy centres on an exchange between Uniyal and Daler Mehndi during the Kunjapuri fair, which has triggered discussion about the treatment of performers at public events.

Mika’s comments have added to the criticism surrounding the incident, with the singer calling for the matter to be resolved through a direct apology. The minister’s account of the exchange and the allegations raised by Mika remain important to establishing the full circumstances of the dispute.
