Synopsis: DCMF is the story of 2 Brothers Gani (Harish) and Mani (Amrinder) who hate their father like anything and even their father, Puppy Singh (Bhalla) hates them. But it’s all in a comical way. Puppy thinks of re-marrying after he lost his wife 17 years back. He was in love with Diljeet Kaur (Amar Noorie) since his college but couldn’t marry her due to circumstances. Even Gani and Mani fall in love with 2 sisters who happen to be the daughters of Diljeet Kaur. What follows next is a chaos and comedy between the father and the son duo.
Script Analysis: For making a comedy film, the makers do not lay much stress on the story part of the film. Even with a weak story, a good laugh riot comedy film can be made. Same thing has happened here. The story isn’t that great but still the dialogues make up for it. Rajan Agarwal does the story and Rajan and Amberdeep Singh have done the dialogues and screenplay.
The story dips in the second half after a laughter-packed first half. But the film soon picks up nearing the climax after Rana Ranbir’s entry. Dialogues are the main highlight of this film. They have been written keeping the youth of today in mind including things like Google, Facebook, Internet, etc… The Screenplay is also fine but the film goes overboard by a few minutes, which could have been cut short.
Direction and Music: Simarjeet Singh, who last made Chak Jawana in 2010, attempts a totally different genre in this film. This time he’s made a much better film than what he made the last time around. He knew what do get from which actor and what I personally feel that comedy is his genre to make.
Music by Dr. Zeus was good to average. When you have Speed Records, Amrinder Gill and Dr. Zeus together, you expect much more than this in the music. It was average but still tracks like Lagda Na Jee and Tauba Tauba are chartbusters.
Star Performances: Amrinder Gill has his 3rd release of the year in exactly 3 months. He’s shown great signs of improvements from Saadi Love Story to TM22MT22 and now he’s done the best here in this film. He knew the character very well and his comic timing was superb. Harish Verma, is a tailor made actor for roles like such. He is a gifted actor with natural talent and he’s raised his bar with this performance. Also the one who impressed was Jaswinder Bhalla. He was superb as always. Every dialogue of his was near to a punch line and what more can you say of this man.
Actresses Yuvika and Ihana did not have much to do but they were okay to average to good in their part. Ihana being the better than Yuvika. Others like Rana Ranbir, Upasna Singh, Sardar Sohi were all good in their parts. Karamjit Anmol and Harpal Singh were wasted.
Final Say: DCMF is one of those clean comedies, which you can enjoy with your whole family and won’t be disappointed. Its not a classic but its something which if you love Punjabi Movies, you will definitely have a laugh.
