Synopsis: Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad’s plot revolves around an aspiring actor, Jassi (Roshan Prince) who dreams of becoming an actor, so that he culd marry Roop (Bhanushree Mehra) and to fulfill his dreams, he starts taking up jobs of breaking marriages to make easy and fast money. During one such act, he ends up breaking the marriage of Geet (Japji Khaira) and incidentally gets married to her forcefully by the village community. Now he has two girls in his life, thus creating a Gadbad.
Review: Rimpy and Prince, the famous Music Video makers from Punjab return with their second outing as a Director after 5 years. Earlier they made Mini Punjab (Gurdas Maan). However, this time around they have also done the story and screenplay for the film. Story of FMGG, like every Punjabi film has no logic to debate about. However, this one is not as entertaining as one would have expected it to be.
Some of the portions in the screenplay are too good but unfortunately they are very less in number. Screenplay has been very cleverly written to adapt 6-7 song sequences in this 140 minutes film. But they seem to be unwanted like the Item song and the Rab Jaane song just before the climax. Dialogues by Naresh Kumar and Rana Ranbir fail to impress and make the audience laugh. This ‘Punch after Punch’ formula cannot fit in every subject you make.
Rimpy & Prince try their best to handle the film well. The film opens brilliantly but only flatters to deceive in the middle where all the things go haywire and the enjoyment becomes minimal. However, again the film picks up after the interval and the same happens until the climax. Songs have been pictured well, but that’s a job, which Rimpy-Prince have been doing for ages and are best in the business at it. Jaggi Singh’s music had its share of moments. It was a nice album with some hits like Dil De Varke, Rab Jaane and Put Sardaaran De.
Roshan Prince, after doing a few supporting roles in films like Sirphire, Kabaddi – Once Again and Lucky Di Unlucky Story returns as the lead actor after a long time. He has shown some talent and improvement in his acting and also promises for a great future. He has potential and can become a great success in the future. Bhanushree Mehra, after having done a few films in South makes her debut in Punjabi Cinema. Her performance in the film was just about okay and fails to last long in the minds of the viewers.
Japji Khaira has been in the industry for almost 7-8 years now. I felt that she was not the right choice for the role. Although Japji puts her best foot forward but somehow her role wasn’t convincing enough. Had B.N. Sharma not been at his best in the film as ‘POOJA’, the entertainment value of the film would have been further down. But he has done a splendid act in this one.
Rana Ranbir somehow didn’t perform well and it was a completely gone wrong character here. It’s been his second failure in 28 days – OHPHG and now FMGG. Karamjit Anmol did a good job. Bhotu Shah was all right in a cameo. Hobby Dhaliwal and Shivendra Mahal were impressive.
Final Say: FMGG is a film which starts off very well but soon flatters to deceive as the things go Haywire. The music is all right and Roshan Prince promises for a great future ahead. Overall, it’s a one-time watch affair.
