Synopsis: Lahoriye is the story of love. The love which does not see boundaries, the love which does not see nations. Kikar Singh (Amrinder Gill) is a clerk at DTO office and his family holds a piece of land which is right at the LOC. The people living in Border areas are familiar with the situation. Right across the land in Pakistan is a Kinnow farm where Ameeran (Sargun Mehta) works and live with her family. Kikar falls for Ameeran and slowly slowly even Ameeran falls for Kikar. What follows next is a tale of romance which is worth watching on the big screen.

Review: Amberdeep Singh, the brain behind some of the most marvellous gems of Punjabi Cinema in recent times is back with his next film. This time he’s not only the writer, but also Producer, also Director and also an actor in the film. We never knew that Amber was so multi talented that he could manage all these jobs together. Things apart, Lahoriye also brings back the favourite ‘on-screen’ couple of Sargun Mehta & Amrinder Gill after Love Punjab & Angrej.

Lahoriye has been written by Amberdeep Singh and inspite of the film being a romantic comedy, it is very fresh when it comes to rom coms in Punjabi Cinema. No Punjabi Cinema writer treats romance as finely and uncompromisingly as Amberdeep. Be it Angrej or even Lahoriye now. Despite the story being predictable, it is still enjoyable. Screenplay of Lahoriye is water tight. The writer leaves no loose ends and the film is gripping throughout.

In the second half there were as many as 4 songs, all in background. 4 in too much in second half but when the songs are as good as the ones in this film, you just sit back and enjoy that melodious songs inspite of crippling for an extra 10-12 minutes. Dialogues are a breathe of fresh air, especially the ones written for the actors who portrayed Pakistani characters.

Coming to Direction, Amberdeep Singh made his debut as a director. One things which I am quite sure is that he has a long road ahead at the movies. Amber brought in with him, the confidence of his successful films with him into Lahoriye which was visible on screen. The way the scenes were written and shot, the way the actors performed, the way the sets were all designed showed his class. Looking forward to more films from this Writer-Director in future.

Amrinder Gill, what can I write about him. All I can say is that his on screen innocence is something which has no match in Punjabi Cinema, not at the moment at least. All you can do is fall in love with his charm and charisma. Amrinder is the heart of Lahoriye. And if Amrinder is the heart, Sargun is the soul. Sargun Mehta, well she keeps on delivering a performance after performance and I am now short of adjectives to describe her performance this time. Sargun brings her character alive with those Almond Coloured eyes and her smile right from her first scene. From there on, she goes from strength to strength.

Yuvraj Hans was missing in action from the last 2-3 years and his fans will not be disappointed. Yuvraj does well here and he gets a meaty role in this multi starrer. Nimrat Khaira makes her debut with Lahoriye and she does well in a small role. I would want to see Nimrat in a bigger role before I assume anything weather she can act or not. Supporting cast comprises of a lot of very very talented actors. All of them have performed to their potential or even better. The likes of Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi & Guggu Gill are veterans and even today they try and raise the bar with each film. Guggu Gill was special. Other names comprised in the cast were Rajiv Thakur, Hobby Dhaliwal, Gagan Mehra, Balwinder Bullet, Sandeep Malhi, Balwinder Begowal and many more.

Music and Background Score was composed by Jatinder Shah. The album comprises of 7 songs which have been released so far. Each and every song of the film is brilliant and is a part of my playlist. Be it Akhar, Chunni, Jeondeyan Ch, Janjhan, Paani Ravi Da or even Gutt Ch Lahore. All of them are fantastic. Gutt Ch Lahore & Jeondeyan Ch would be highly recommended along with the others. Cheers to the Production Designer Tariq Umar Khan for a superb show put up on screen.

Overall, Lahoriye is a complete film. The film will make you fall in love, the film will make you cry (Towards the End), the film will make you laugh. What else do you look for in a film. Go and have fun. Fall in love!
