To start the proceedings of the review, it would not be wrong to state that Mr & Mrs 420 Returns has undeniably stood tall on the expectations bestowed upon it. For a sequel of the 2014-released 'Mr & Mrs 420', which was a critical and commercial success, expectations were bound to happen. Post watching the movie, it becomes clear that director Ksshitij Chaudhary has left no stone unturned in making this sequel.

The movie starts on a platonic note with the song 'Tu Te Main' in which Balwinder Singh (Jassie Gill) and Mehar (Avantika Hundal) are seen romancing with each other. Post the song, a drug-addict named Ladi (Ranjit Bawa) is seen making arrangements for money to buy bhukki from a local drug dealer. The way Ladi's family members keep everything locked at home speaks about his addiction and is early signs of the subtle comedy in the movie.

The movie has handful of scenes where the audiences are seen giggling even without any outright comic punch or a prolonged farcical sequence. It is either because of how funnily the things are picturized in the movie or because of a tenuous expression by an actor. Not that the movie doesn't force one to hold one's sides but it mostly happens at a later stage. At the outset, the movie takes the tender path of situational comedy.

Ladi's two elder brothers, Natha Singh Bhullar (Jaswinder Bhalla) and Balli (Gurpreet Ghuggi), are seen facing their own personal issues which doesn't help the family as a unit. With each of the three brother catering to their individual issues, things drop down to the extent that talks of distributing the family land among the three brothers do the rounds at home.

The verdict which comes out is that Ladi will be handed over his land only when he gets married. In which is easier said than done, the real concern is finding a suitable match for a drug-addict. And this is where the whole convolution begins. Balwinder and Karamjit Anmol, co-owners of Laavaan Phere Marriage Bureau, put down a high-risk plan to get Ladi married and to also solve the Balwinder's problems.

Watch Mr & Mrs 420 Returns to know as to whether Ladi gets married or not, if he does, who is the girl for he also falls for Dr. Seerat Bajwa (Payal Rajput) mid-way, whether Balwinder's problems get solved and whether the three brothers get their piece of land or not. In your journey of finding the answers to the above questions, be rest assured that a rich quality of jocularity will accompany you.

Karamjit Anmol and Jassie Gill as Ganga and Radha respectively steal the show in the movie. This is the sequence which mostly convulses the audiences with laughter. Anmol, who has now made a habit of moving in and out of contrasting characters in almost every movie, delivers another novelty role with utter perfection on the silver screen. Gill, on the other hand, proves his maturity as an actor. Both of them deserve applause for how beautifully and hysterically they have acted as ladies in the movie.

Apart from them, Jaswinder Bhalla and Gurpreet Ghuggi have also worked efficiently to make the audiences laugh in the movie. In which has been an inconsistent acting career, Ranjit Bawa has once again acted to the likes of his character and the audiences. In the handful of movies that he has done so far, it appears as if Chaudhary (also the director of Vekh Baraatan Challiyan) brings out the best out of him.

Avantika and Payal had limited scenes in the movie but both of them did justice to their respective roles. Anita Devgan playing the role of Bhalla's chachi was funny but her selection for this role will remain questionable. In which was a decent performance, producer Rrupali Gupta (Daljeet) was also seen making her acting debut in the movie.

The only point where the movie falls flat is a couple of scenes post the interval. Other than that, director Chaudhary has made sure that situational comedy takes the movie where it intends to go. The Rajasthani touch in the movie is fresh to watch on-screen in a Punjabi movie. As much as Anmol and Gill are to be praised for their respective roles, credit also goes to the director for it was a risk which could have gone wrong if not executed properly.

Writer Naresh Kathooria, who also portrayed the role of Gogi Mastana (Natha's son) in the movie, has a claim on appreciation for both his writing (script, screenplay and dialogues) and acting. The climax of the movie might be inspired from the 'Smeep Kang School of Climaxes' but kudos to Kathooria's writing (again) and Chaudhary's direction that the strung out climax not for a moment lets the audiences down.

The music of the movie has been directed by Jay K, Gurcharan Singh , R D Beat and Jaison Thind and is worth listening to. Tu Te Main, Chann Wargi and Att Chukni are the songs which have it in them to sustain for a considerable amount of time.

Watch the comic caper Mr & Mrs 420 Returns to witness another outstanding comic Punjabi movie. With no intention of sounding repetitive, both Anmol and Gill's role have given a memorable sequence to this movie, which the audiences must watch in cinemas.
