Synopsis: Nikka Zaildar narrates the love story of Nikka (Ammy Virk) and Manraaj (Sonam Bajwa) with a mix of some confusions, laughter, romance. Nikka is a young man studying in college where he falls in love with Manraaj. At first, Manraaj refuses to even talk to Nikka. Slowly, she also falls for him. But now there is a situation where the marriage between the 2 is not possible. Nikka is helped by 2 of his friends: Bhola & Gapp. What is Shanti doing in the plot? Who is Shanti? Why is Nikka’s Dadi against his marriage at first? Watch Nikka Zaildar for all the answers.

Nikka Zaildar is Simerjit Singh’s next offering after the super success of Angrej. Nikka Zaildar is very different in many aspects from Angrej. It was a masterpiece which cannot be made again. However, now let us analyse that weather Nikka Zaildar lived upto the hype it created or not.

Writer Jagdeep Sidhu, who earlier wrote Pankaj Batra’s Dildariyaan now offers us yet another film with somewhat similar setting: College Romance, Village Girl, Families are against, etc. But this time what he’s done right is that his story has made some sense which was missing the last time around. The screenplay is good to average. It’s good in parts but the good thing is that good moments outshine the average ones. Dialogues were quite funny. Compliments to the writer for the dialogues.

Director Simerjit Singh is back again after a gap of 2 years. Simerjit has done good to average job when it comes to direction. What I felt during the film was that, this man is making a technically sound film but the soul is somewhere missing. But thankfully, the punches and the comedy saved the grace. Had he put more effort in the film, the film would have been way better.

Ammy Virk sees his 3rd release of the year in less than 200 days. He’s done a good job again but he’s getting repetitive here with similar characters (more or less). Sonam Bajwa was all right. She’s beautiful and we all agree on that but I expect more from her in terms of her acting skills. Nirmal Rishi was the heart of the film here. A stellar performance from her yet again as Zaildarni.

Karamjit Anmol & Baninder Bunny were funny. Harby Sangha was under utilised. Kishore Sharma was spot on. Rest of the cast included many familiar faces which we get to see in many punjabi films portraying: Tayaji, Chachaji, Masi ji, Mummy ji, Daddy ji. They were all right as usual.

Music of the film was good. Mini Cooper is a Blockbuster. Akh is all right. Happy Raikoti’s Bolane Di Lod Nahi was good as well. The film has been shot at some very good locations in Punjab & Kashmir.

Overall, Nikka Zaildar is a good one time watch. You won’t regret watching this. Have fun and a complete dosage of laughter.
