Movie Review: Pure Punjabi

When it comes to the Punjabi films made in today’s times, they are no more based on NRI subjects anymore. The youth oriented cinema has taken over the NRI formula. PP is another example of a youth-oriented film. Pure Punjabi is a youth oriented Musical Drama. It is a story about four Close friends based in Punjab who are passionate about music. Music is like life for them and they can go up to any extent to live their dreams. Such few incidents are showcased in the film.

 

The film is based on a concept that is new in the Punjabi Industry. Writer-Director Munish Sharma has worked hard on his script in order to bring freshness in the story and he even succeeds in his work both as a Director and Writer. But the Screenplay, which was co-written, by ‘Munish Sharma and Team’ lacked the same flare which was seen in the story and that is major a drawback of the film. No matter the dialogues compromised for the poor screenplay, but that too not fully but only to some extent. In some sequences it seemed that as if the comic part was missing.

 

The performances by the actors were all fine. Karan, Majot, Zorawar and Nav all deliver stand out performances and it seems that the roles were written keeping them in mind, especially Manjot. Dhriti Saharan makes a fine Debut. The comedy portion was handled well by Deepak Raja and the character called ‘Galti’. Veteran actor Sangram Singh was again in top form. The music of the film was perfect with chartbusters like Challa, Daddy Kehnde Ne and Yara Dol Na Javi.

 

Overall, Pure Punjabi is a descent one time watch, but could have been much better had the Screenplay been written well. Watch the film for good acting and Superb Music.
