Saab Bahadar is the story of ASI Kuldeep Singh (Ammy Virk) aka Saab Bahadar and how he solves a string of murders in the village. Assisting him in the investigation are Munshi Narata Ram (Jaswinder Bhalla) and Hawaldaar Kabal Singh (Rana Ranbir). So who is the murderer? Before that who has been murdered? To get the answers to all your inner gusts, watch Saab Bahadar.

Saab Bahadar is set in the 90’s era somewhere in Punjab and is a murder mystery film, which is a first for Punjabi Cinema. Produced by White Hill Studios and Zee Studios, Saab Bahadar is directed by debutante Amrit Raj Chadha with Jass Grewal writing the plot of this murder mystery.

Coming to the plot of the film, Jass Grewal once again excels as the story writer with this film. Saab Bahadar is a police procedural, part dark, twisted crime drama – is as real as it gets on screen. And all this mainly to do with the just right note caught by Jass Grewal in the story and Gurpreet Singh Palheri along with Jass in the screenplay.

The screenplay is written pretty cleverly and that is the hallmark of a thriller film. Co-writing the screenplay along with Jass Grewal is Gurpreet Singh Palheri. Dialogues are by Jatinder Lal and they are apt for the situations in the film.

Director Amrit Raj Chadha makes his debut as a director after assisting some of the biggest names of today in Punjabi Film Industry. Amrit has all the traits of being a successful director in this industry. He catches the right nods of the audience and makes a gripping film.

Coming to performances, Saab Bahadar maintains the gritty tightrope courtesy a stellar performance from Ammy Virk who adapts the role of a police officer with ease. His second-in-commands Jaswinder Bhalla and Rana Ranbir, again were hilarious when needed and composed when needed as well.

Preet Kamal made an all right debut in the film. Supporting cast includes a long list of fine actors like Malkeet Rauni, Hobby Dhaliwal, Seema Kaushal, Rupinder Rupi, Parkash Gadhu, Gurmeet Sajan, Jarnail Singh, Janjot Singh and many more. All provided able support when required.

Music in the film was minimal which is a very courageous attempt by the makers and I really respect this bold decision. Punjabi films boast off many songs usually which are unwanted but Saab Bahadar only had 2 songs out of which one was towards the end. No compromises with the screenplay to forcefully add distractions such as songs or forceful comedy.

Overall, Saab Bahadar is very different film from what we as audiences are used to watching. One attempt at watching Saab Bahadar and you will appreciate the attempt just like I have. Do watch it with the whole family and get ready to get thrilled.
