Review:
This present unfortunate condition of India’s National game Hockey forms the base storyline of “Taur Mittran Di”. Taur Mittran di is a campus-based story of 2 boys, both being touted as Badmash of university with strong rivalry between them. They both have beautiful Girlfriends that are real sisters. Hockey connects them & they join hands to take up the mission to save hockey showcasing Youth Power.
Hockey was presented as a negative aspect in one of earlier of Navaniat Singh’s film, ‘Mel Karade Rabba’ but here he has presented the game of hockey in right and true spirit. He has done a pretty good job in all the aspects like always. He has handled some crunch situations in the film with ease. This comes out of experience. Dheeraj Rattan’s story was perfect but unfortunately his screenplay lacked the flare, which he showed in some of his earlier films. Even the action sequences weren’t up to the mark. These two were the only drawbacks in the film. Manish More’s editing somehow saved the action sequences.
Amrinder Gill as an actor has shown tremendous improvement and proved that he could act well. Ranvijay Singha also did a good job. Surveen Chawla is surely an actor for the long run in the Punjabi industry. Amita Pathak disappointed big time. Mukesh Rishi was perfect as always. Comedy has formed the initial backbone of Punjabi films. The story was written in such a way that it showcases a lot of comedy and it has been handled well by all 4 comedians: Binnu Dhillon, B.N. Sharma, Gurchet Chitarkaar and Rana Ranbir. Binnu being the standout among all. Music was first grade by Jaidev as always. Even the remix track by Dr. Zeus was convincing.
Overall, TMD is a time-pass watch. It would have been much-much better had the screenplay been written well alongside the action sequences.
