Boring

Thug Life is a disappointment. The story had weight but unfortunately all good stories do not turn out to be good films.

To being with, Thug Life is the story of 4 characters who want to accomplish different things in life but are unsuccessful at doing that and come together to pull off a few cons and get stuck in an unwanted situation at an unwanted time. Yes, this is the plot line of Thug Life in 2 lines. Thug Life is not a film but rather a tragedy to watch. Those 140 odd minutes of unfunny punches and predictable situations made it less than bearable to sit for me in the cinema hall.

The film has been written by Mukesh Vohra who earlier tried his hands at doing comedy in films but failed at that as he was unsuccessful in bagging major roles and till now has a film called Ishq Garaari to his credit where he was the ‘lead’ comedian. The story is very predictable and the screenplay is filled with so many unfunny situations that after a point of time, you begin to enjoy them thinking about how kiddish those situations are. The dialogues are written jointly by Mukesh Vohra, Dhiraj Kumar, Karan Sandhu and there are so many forgettable and not so funny punches.

Mukesh Vohra also directed the film. There is a whole drama to how Mukesh who was present on the sets as a Writer and took over the film from somebody else overnight. Anyways, leaving that portion aside, Mukesh Vohra has a lot to learn as a director if he is to survive in this industry. The film was not at all engaging and failed to attract my attention. In the already irritating 1st half, the director over dramatised the film so much that 3 times he went into the flashback and came in the present using a 36 China Town like time lapse montage and it seemed irritating after the 1st or 2nd time.

Harish Verma is an unlucky actor I believe. The films he does do not justify his acting caliber or the talent he possesses. I walk into a Harish Verma film with somewhat expectations and come out disappointing each time and it’s been happening since Viyah 70 KM and is continuing for the last 4 years. Ihana Dhillon did an okayish job. Jass Bajwa could not have found a worst script that this to make a forgettable debut. He tries hard but thats it. Rajiv Thakur had a long role but he has much more potential that this. Karamjit Anmol and Vrajesh Hirjee were funny but why were they even there in the film. Yograj Singh is getting repetitive week after week.

The songs were all disappointing and given that the film had a singer like Jass Bajwa, the makers failed to utilise him as a singer.

Overall, Thug Life is a disappointment. The story had weight but unfortunately all good stories do not turn out to be good films or else we would never have a Flop film because every story which gets made appeals to someone who invests their money. Isn’t it?
