Heer & Hero, the Upcoming Punjabi movie starring Minissha Lamba, Arya Babbar, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Preet Bhullar & various others is all set to release on October 18, 2013. The Music of the film was released at a Press event some days back. Gurmeet Singh has composed the music of the film and Mukhtar Sahota is the guest composer of Haule Haule song. Presenting a quick review of all the 9 songs from the album:

1. Haule Haule – The song has been penned by Yadwinder Pamma and sung by Ranjit Rana. The song has a tone of attitude in it. Ranjit Rana has sung it energetically and the beats of the song will just drive the listeners crazy once played in Pubs and Discos. A perfect song with a proper dose of attitude for the youth audiences who are sure to be driven crazy on the beats of this song.

2. Heeriye – Secondly, comes a romantic track with the vocals of Kamal Khan and Shweta Pandit, both of them having made a name for them in Punjabi as well as Hindi Cinema. Lyrics are by Jaggi Singh, which describe the feelings of a 2 hearts searching for their lovers and describing the feeling of what happens when you feel true love in yourself. This one would appeal to all the romantic couples out there. Also, the vocals of Kamal Khan add as a bonus in this peppy-romantic number.

3. Ullu Da Patha – This one as the name suggests is an out and out crazy but fun and frolic dance number. Such songs are mostly based on some family function scenes in a film. Kanwar Juneja has penned it and Labh Janjua sings it. The song begins with a ‘traditional boli’ and then is followed by the dance number. The song works immediately with the listener and is a foot tapping number. This one is basically meant for the dancing audience on DJ’s in Punjabi functions and will surely work with them.

4. Heer N Hero – Here comes the first title track of the film. Yes, this one has 2 title tracks. Geeta Zaildar has sung this one and the lyrics are by Gabbar. Firstly, it’s a very meaningful song with a deeper meaning into it. What I felt after this song was that the song is a representation of the modern Boliyaan with a touch of folklore into it. Traditional punjabi language has been used here which may take us back to the older days when Boliyaan were very popular at weddings. Also Geeta has sung the song in a superb manner. Simply his best song after last year’s Burrraahh…Burrraahh. Surprisingly that song was one of his biggest hits was also the title track of Sagar S Sharma’s previous film.

5. Heer Te Hero – This one is the second title track of the film. Sung by one and only Lehmber Hussainpuri. This one is a fast and pacy number adding more variety to the album. The song is a sure shot HIT and you are sure to love this one in the first go itself. Lehmber’s rustic voice just adds as a bonus to the fantastic lyrics by Veet Baljit.

6. Dil Naal Dil – This song is sung by Sonu Nigam and newcomer Ankita Sachdev. Lyrics have been written by one and only Kumaar. Sonu has earlier sung a few songs in Punjabi films this year but this is that song which will establish him as a regular for romantic songs even in Punjabi Cinema like Hindi Cinema. This is an out and out romantic number and the second one of the album. The video for this song is already out and has some exotic locations. Another soothing and romantic track for you lovers out there.

7. Lak Tunu Tunu – I had to wait for 6 tracks to get over to listen this one since Miss Pooja is my personal favourite. This one is sung by Miss Pooja and Master Saleem and pictured on Hazel Keech of Bodyguard fame and Gurpreet Ghuggi. This one is an energetic dance number that is sure to drive the masses crazy especially the audiences who watch films at single screens. It’s a typical Miss Pooja classic song and Saleem’s voice seems like a Cherry on top of it. Kala Nizampuri has penned the lyrics for this song.

8.  Hurray – Well this is a song which marks the debut of Singer Etch B as a playback singer. This song is a promotional track for the film. Coming to the song, Kala Nizampuri has penned it and Etch B is the vocalist. He has sung this dance number with high energy and has targeted the club going audience with song. It’s a good song to listen and adds more variety to this already versatile album.

9. Heer N Hero (Gurmeet) – This is another version of Geeta Zaildar’s song, sung by Music Director Gurmeet Singh himself and lyrics are by Gabbar. This song is equally good as Geeta’s song.

Overall, Heer & Hero soundtrack brings some freshness and melodious tracks with it. Some of the tracks are very fresh and are really different from what regular is going on these days. My picks from this album (Although it was difficult to choose) are Heer Te Hero by Lehmber, Heeriye by Kamal Khan and Shweta Pandit & obviously Lak Tunu Tunu by Miss Pooja and Master Saleem. Even other tracks like Hurray, Heet N Hero, Dil Nal Dil, Ullu Da Patha are all good.

This album is Strongly Recommended!
