Punjabi director Navaniat Singh has added a feather to his cap by being a part of an 18-member jury to select India's official entry for Oscars 2022. Singh made the development public by taking to his social media platform Facebook account.
"Great honour to be part of selection committee.....selecting Indias entry to Oscars...Last 6 days of watching cinema was a life time experience Congrats to team Koozangal(Pebbles) for India's entry to Oscar this year," read the caption of Singh's Facebook post.
Known for directing popular Punjabi movies namely 'Mel Karade Rabba' (2010), 'Dharti' (2011), 'Shareek' (2015) among others, Singh's participation in this illustrious selection committee is an honour for the Punjabi film industry.
Singh had visited Kolkata to spend the last six days watching the best of the best Indian movies of the past year. Shoojit Sircar's 'Sardar Udham' (Hindi), Amit V. Masurkar's 'Sherni' (Hindi) and P.S. Vinothraj's 'Koozhangal' (Tamil) were among the 14 shortlisted movies which were watched by the jury. Eventually, the Tamil movie has been nominated to contest in Oscar's Best Foreign Language Film Category.

Having last directed 'Singham' (2019), Singh has a couple of unreleased movies under his belt in 'Shareek 2' and 'Blackia 2'.
