Chandigarh: National Award-winning actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is preparing to step into Punjabi cinema for the first time with a new film being produced under Gippy Grewal’s banner. The yet-to-be-titled project is expected to mark a significant collaboration, bringing together one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated performers with one of Punjab’s leading production houses.

The announcement has generated considerable interest among film enthusiasts, as Siddiqui has earned a reputation for portraying layered and unconventional characters throughout his career. His entry into Punjabi films is being seen as another milestone in the industry's growing appeal to actors from across Indian cinema.

Earlier reports had claimed that actress Sonam Bajwa would be paired opposite Siddiqui in the film. However, sources associated with the production have dismissed the speculation, confirming that the female lead has not yet been finalised.

The makers have clarified that casting for the lead actress is still underway and an official announcement will be made once the process is complete. They also refrained from revealing the film's storyline or genre, indicating that more details will be unveiled in the coming months.

The project is reportedly targeting a theatrical release later this year, although the production team has not yet announced a confirmed schedule.

Siddiqui has steadily expanded his presence beyond Hindi cinema in recent years. He made his Tamil film debut in Petta alongside superstar Rajinikanth and later appeared in the Telugu film Saindhav, sharing screen space with Venkatesh Daggubati. His upcoming Hindi slate also includes films such as Tumbbad 2, Section 108, and Sangeen, underscoring his continued versatility across genres.

Industry observers believe Siddiqui's Punjabi debut could further strengthen the industry's national reach, reflecting the increasing crossover between regional and mainstream Indian cinema. The collaboration with Gippy Grewal's production house is expected to attract audiences from both Punjabi and Hindi film markets, making it one of the most anticipated projects of the year.
