Veteran Punjabi actress Nirmal Rishi has been awarded with the Padma Shri award for her excellence in Punjabi cinema over the years. Famous for her roles like Daleep Kaur from Nikka Zaildar, Gulaabi Maasi from Long Da Lishkara and more, Nirmal Rishi has not just worked in Punjabi movies but also Bollywood movies like Street Dancer 3D, Dangal and others.
Nirmal Rishi Ji attended the award ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday and received the prestigious award with a smile and pride on her face. President Droupadi Murmu presented the Padma Shri award to Nirmal Rishi in the presence of the Vice President of India, Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and others.
‘When I first got a call, I got nervous and cut the call thinking it could be some random award ceremony. But when I officially got a call from the Ministry of Home Affairs, I was so happy that I received this award.’, said Nirmal Rishi after receiving Padma Shri.
Nirmal Rishi has worked in around 100 movies in her cinematic career and worked as a theater artist initially. She has featured in almost every hit Punjabi movie and is continuing to do so. Her presence in the movie makes it more amazing and fun to watch & that’s the reason she is getting appreciated for her roles everytime she appears on screen.
Padma Awards is one of the highest civilian honors of the country and are presented in 3 categories namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. President Droupadi Murmi presented the awards from 3 categories on Monday in Rashtrapati Bhawan, Delhi.
