Punjabi music star Karan Aujla is facing fresh hurdles ahead of his upcoming performance in the national capital, with authorities placing restrictions on several of his popular tracks.
The singer is scheduled to perform in Delhi on February 28 as part of his ongoing “P Pop Culture India Tour.” However, the Child Protection Unit of South East Delhi has reportedly issued a notice to the event organisers, directing them to ensure that songs promoting alcohol, drugs, or gun culture are not performed during the live show. The directive references a ruling by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and highlights concerns about the presence of minors in the audience.
According to the communication sent via email, organisers have been cautioned that non-compliance could invite legal consequences. The notice emphasises that performances should avoid content that may be deemed inappropriate for children attending the event.
Sources indicate that several of Aujla’s well-known tracks—including “Adhiya,” “Chitta Kurta,” “Alcohol 2,” “Few Days,” and “Bandook”—were initially part of the planned setlist. With the latest restrictions, these songs may now be excluded from the performance.
The development follows a petition filed by a Chandigarh-based professor, Dharnarav Rao, who raised concerns that certain lyrics in contemporary Punjabi music glorify substance abuse, weapons, and misogyny. The plea sought action to curb the public performance of such songs, especially at events accessible to younger audiences.
Neither Karan Aujla nor his team has publicly responded to the notice so far. Meanwhile, fans await clarity on how the revised guidelines will impact the singer’s Delhi concert and whether changes will be made to the final lineup of songs.
